WebHMS Folkestone was a Hastings -class sloop of the Royal Navy that saw action in World War II. She was built by Swan Hunter and Wigham Richardson Ltd. of Wallsend-on-Tyne, laid down on 21 May 1929 and launched on 12 February 1930. She was commissioned on 25 June 1930 under the pennant number L22/U22. WebHMS Folkestone (1764) (or Folkestone ), was an 8-gun cutter launched in 1764. On 24 June 1778 the French frigate Surveillante captured her off Ushant. [1] The French navy purchased Folkestone for Lt 12,405 and took her into service under her existing name. She was struck off the lists in 1782 or early 1783. [2]
