Apply the solution in a single pass to cover small areas, or in sections no larger than 2 to 3 inches (5 to 7.5 cm) when covering large areas, then smooth it out using steel wool. WebCold Bluing with Oxpho-Blue. Oxpho-Blue is an easy to use cold bluing. The only negative thing is you will have a hard time with it going by the directions on the label. But if you will take a blow dryer and heat the part up a little bit it works amazingly. I tried it going by the directions and I couldn't get it to do very much.

Web3 nov. 2015 · That's why I do it too. I also warm the parts during the Oxpho bluing process. Seems to help with the finish. After bluing I hit it with WD-40 after rinsing, and also after rust bluing. The water displacing formula lifts any remaining moisture (at least I assume so). It's the only thing I use WD-40 for anymore.
Web28 dec. 2013 · I think Oxpho Blue is a better cold blue, but it is not close to a factory hot blue finish. Guns are made with varying combinations of metals and certain metals take cold blue better than others. It may be that the particular alloy used in your .410 doesn't respond well to Perma Blue(or any cold blue). Prep is very important when blueing. On a heat treated harder metal rifle receiver, my results have generally not been that good. Picked up a rifle from a gunsmith yesterday, that I'd used Blue Wonder on its barrel 3 or so years ago.
